Particle Propagation in the Galactic Center and Spatial Distribution of Non-Thermal X-rays

چکیده
We showed that if the non-thermal emission from the Galactic center in the range 14− 40 keV is due to inverse bremsstrahlung emission of subrelativistic protons, their interactions with hot and cold fractions of the interstellar medium are equally important. Our estimation show that about 30% of the total non-thermal flux from the GC in the range 14− 40 keV is generated in regions of cold gas while the rest is produced by proton interaction with hot plasma. From the spatial distribution of 6.7 keV iron line we concluded the spatial distribution of hot plasma is strongly nonuniform that should be taken into account in analysis of protons propagation in the GC. From the Suzaku data we got independent estimates for the diffusion coefficient of subrelativistic protons in the GC, which was in the range 10 − 10 cms

Spatial Origin of Galactic Cosmic Rays in Diffusion Models: II- Exotic Primary Cosmic Rays
In a companion paper, we investigated the question of the spatial origin of the cosmic rays detected in the Solar neighborhood, in the case of standard sources located in the Galactic disk. There are some reasons to believe that there may also be a large number of sources located in the halo, for example if the Galactic dark matter is made of supersymmetric particles or if Primordial Black Hole...
متن کاملGamma-rays from Galactic Black Hole Candidates with Stochastic Particle Acceleration
We consider stochastic particle acceleration in plasmas around stellar mass black holes to explain the emissions above 1 MeV from Galactic black hole candidates. We show that for certain parameter regimes, electrons can overcome Coulomb losses and be accelerated beyond the thermal distribution to form a new population, whose distribution is broad and usually not a power law; the peak energy of ...
متن کاملThe X-ray diffuse emission from the Galactic Center
A long BeppoSAX observation of the Galactic Center region shows that the spectrum of the diffuse X–ray emission from the SgrA Complex can be described with the sum of two thermal plasma models with temperatures of ∼0.6 keV and ∼89 keV. The spatial distribution of the diffuse emission is energy dependent. While the hard X–ray emission has a nearly symmetric distribution elongated along the Galac...
متن کاملAn Overview of Technological Developments in Medical Applications of X-Rays and Radioactivity
The years 1895 to 1898 were momentous for their impact on health and human well beings. First, Wilhelm Roentgen noted a glowing fluorescent screen, caused by invisible rays. This event subsequently led to the discovery of X-rays in 1895, and thus the birth of the “atomic ageâ€. Next Becquerel’s investigations of these mysterious rays led to his experiments with uranium salt crystals. He th...
متن کاملA COMPARISON BETWEEN THERMAL AND X RADIOGRAPHY FOR STUDYING THE INTERNAL STRUCTURE OF BIOLOGICAL
ABSTRACT Background: With respect to the difference in the interaction of thermal neutron and X rays with matter, using two radiography systems of thermal neutron and X rays will yield highly valuable information for studying the inner structure of biologic samples. Methods: The high sensitivity of thermal neutron to hydrogen, in particular, has led to recognizing this system as a useful tool ...
